Welcome to the PC Paralegal!

The PC Paralegal blog and website aspires to be a comprehensive resource that promotes legal discussion and awareness.

Inspired by my love for law and technology, it has become my endeavor to provide a comprehensive legal research tool for all, particularly working paralegals and legal staff. Along the top of this site you will find taps to pages that specialize in some unique social aspect of the legal industry. On the right you will find links to independent websites pertinent to researching law.

While this site is under construction, please feel free to explore all the pages and resources we have provided so far.

What happens when a state law contradicts a U.S. federal law?

This article by Becky Striepe at HowStuffWorks.com was so intriguing, I felt compelled to share it with PC Paralegal readers. Not only does Ms. Striepe do a great job at explaining the doctrine of pre-emption and the supremacy clause; but more importantly, she uses modern situations, such as state legalization of marijuana in Colorado and Washington and the state legalization of prostitution in Nevada, as examples of how complex and open the law is to situational interpretation and application.
